Intimate Backyard Wedding in Washington, Connecticut

Intimate backyard wedding in Connecticut

The Location

As if marrying your best friend isn’t already the most amazing thing ever, imagine tying the knot at your childhood home (alllll the feels) – which is exactly what Heather & Eric did at Heather’s family farm house in Washington, Connecticut. They had an intimate backyard wedding with their closest family, friends – and horses (yes, their horses were in attendance.)

The Couple

Heather and Eric went to high school together, and maintained a group of mutual friends through their college years. When Heather moved back to Connecticut after graduation, they found themselves in a wedding party together – and Eric secretly asked the groom to pair him with Heather so they could walk down the aisle together (Anyone crying yet? Same.) Obviously, the rest was history and the next time they’d walk down an aisle together – would be as a married couple!! Seriously, that’s crazy.

The Style

An intimate-style day, everyone sat close together in the backyard, facing a beautiful old tree lined with florals. An outdoor reception with wooden tables and string lights above. Heather’s horses, Stella and McDuff, available for petting and pictures. Cider donuts and the most creamy ice cream from their local farm – need I say more? And oh, the live band – let’s talk about that:

The Music

Heather knew that a live band was a must. Her dad is an incredible pianist – so naturally I started geeking out as I’m a musician as well. And my oh my was this band was amazing. “I mean, we knew a band that size was going to be incredible no matter what but oh my gosh, incredible would be an understatement. I don’t think any of our friends had ever danced that hard at a wedding before,” Heather said. And the sweetest part of having her dad in the band? He played Heather’s first dance. (If you’re not crying now, I don’t believe you.)
